AUGUST 17 2008 ITS THAT TIME AGAIN 232 221 236 689 TOTALS WITH AN OPEN IN EACH GAME NOT BAD FOR A NEW BALL FIRST TIME OUT THE BOX, WE SHOULD CHANGE RON'S NAME TO GOLDFINGERS OR SOMETHING THANKS AGAIN GUYS FOR EVERTHING! AUBRE ZOOM NORMAN.
Upon returning from the National USBC Tournament in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Clarence Bishop, Jr., of Livonia, Michigan, proceded to roll a series of 808 on Monday April 28. This fine honour score was rolled with a Morich Mayhem released in December of 2003. Who said bowling balls have an expiration date? Just keep them clean and fine-tuned like a race car and they will keep performing like new!!! Mr. Bishop's other equipment includes a Morich Labyrinth (circa 2000), a Morich Minotaur (circa February 2001), an original Morich Black Colossus (circa August 2001), and a Sylvester polyester bowling ball for spare conversions. Mr. Bishop continues to roll honour scores with all of his equipment. And of course make those nagging single pin spares with his Sylvester Polyester Bowling Ball!!! Paul Robertson rolled a fine 290 game on Wednesday, April 2. Paul needs to keep honing his skills or his son, Erik, will soon eclipse Paul's scores. Tommy Reynolds continues his string of successes. The last weekend in March, young Mr. Reynolds added three more scholarships to his bank of scholarship awards. They were another Singles Title, Team Title and High Game Award. Keep it up Tommy!!! As a testiment to proper high-performance bowling ball maintenance procedures, we congratulate Russ McDonald on his fine 826 series. Mr. McDonald had games of 279, 278 and 269 with his freshly refurbished (oil removal and resurfacing) Morich Awesome Hook. Good job Russ!!! Kudos to Mr. Jason Proudlock, as on Wednesday, March 19th, he rolled his sixth 300 "perfecto" with a bowling ball to come off of one of our milling machines! This makes it no less than 14 award scores to be rolled by this fine man. Atta boy Jason! Our compliments to Mr. Tony Grote. On Monday, March 10th Mr. Grote rolled his second award score 47 days after his first award score (300, of course) of 2008! His score - 299! What piece of equipment did Mr. Grote use? An N'sane LevRG that is only three weeks old!! What did he leave? A stubborn, pesky, solid nine pin : ( Way to go TONY!!! Ron "Hair" Jordan had his second perfect 300 game on Friday, March 7th in the Golden Eagles Bowling League at Merri-Bowl Lanes using his Pearlized Blue Sensor II that was drilled over a decade ago. "Hair" purchased this ball last century and finally, took it out of retirement because his low RG balls were hooking too much! Congratulations RON! Bert Sawyers gets KUDOS for his 300 game and 783 series rolled on February 18. He picked up his brand new ball one week before he had these scores with it. The ball that he used was a brand new Nsane LevRG !!! CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER FOR KERRY "KJ" KIRSCH (AGE 17) WHO ROLLED HIS FIRST 300 GAME WHILE BOWLING IN A HIGH SCHOOL MATCH JANUARY 28TH ON THE VARSITY BOWLING TEAM FOR DETROIT CATHOLIC CENTRAL. MR KIRSCH USED A TOTAL SHOCK AND AWE FOR HIS AWARD SCORE. MORE CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER FOR TONY GROTE WHO ROLLED HIS 9TH 300 GAME ON JANUARY 23RD WITH A BRAND NEW BREAK PEARL RIGHT OFF THE DRILL PRESS! ALL TOLD, 16 STRIKES IN A ROW, AND THE HOLES WERE STILL WARM FROM DRILLING!!! OVAL HOLES AVAILABLE!!! Welcome to our site! He gets an A for content and an A+ for creativity!" Advanced HOTS (Hands On Training) is on our plate and we have completed seminars conducted by Denny Torgerson and Mo Pinel for dynamic integration of these principles into bowlers games. Our store understands the science of bowling and we want to share this knowledge with our customers. Our Advanced Hands on training has recently been passed and we are the only Certified Advanced HOTS Pro Shop in Michigan!!! Further, we are one of only 14 stores in the entire world to have passed this Advanced Certification Curriculum! We are also Certified Instructors!!!
Mary Mohacsi is Certified through USBC at Levels Bronze and Silver and the Dick Ritger Academy at Levels One and Two. Mary is also Certified through the International Professional Bowling Instructors founded by Tom Kouros and accredited by a major university in Illinois. Having been in the pro shop business for over 30 years, Mary is retired from the day to day activities of our stores. In addition to Mary being one of the first Certified USBC Bronze and Silver Level Coaches in the world, Mary was in the very first "Hands on Training" course conducted by IBPSIA in 1995. Mary's knowledge was so vast, and being a teacher in her previous occupation, she helped to educate the class. Mary has been inducted into four Halls of Fame for Superior Performance. These Hallowed Halls include the Detroit Bowling Hall of Fame, the Michigan Women's Bowling Hall of Fame, the Michigan Amateur Sports Hall of Fame and the Women's International Bowling Congress Hall of Fame. When asked about her inductions, Mary's reply was, "well, when you get old, and can't perform any more, they hang your picture on the wall." Further, Mary enjoys the company of her husband, Ted, three children, two grand children, two dogs [Tiny and Sassy (a survivor of Hurricane Katrina)] and two cats [Bopper, age 16, and Mabel]. She also enjoys reading books and novels and completing New York Times and a variety of other Crossword Puzzles. Mark Mohacsi, Mary and Ted's only son, does the majority of the private lessons booked through our stores. Mr. Mohacsi is Certified through the Dick Ritger Academy at Levels One and Two and USBC at Levels One and Two, Bronze and Silver. Both Bronze and Silver Certifications were validated by none other than Fred Borden, founder of USA Bowling Coaching, now known as USBC Coaching.Mark also holds the International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructors Association Certificate for Hands on Training and Advanced Hands on Training for Bowling Ball Fitting, Dynamic Balancing and Drilling (HOTS for short). He initially took his Hands on Training Class in 1996 in Las Vegas under the tutelage of Ron Hoppe. Further, it was during this class, that as a student, Mr. Mohacsi was asked to assist in teaching the class. Since Mr. Mohacsi assisted with teaching the class, he never thought to fill out the test to get his passing grade. It was six years later that Mark received his IBPSIA Certification in Buffalo, New York along with 18 other East Coast AMF Bowling Pro Shop Managers. The course was conducted by IBPSIA Certified Course Instructors Mo Pinel and Mike Luongo. On the last day of class, due to the press of business, Mr. Luongo's presence was required elsewhere. Mr. Mohacsi was asked to stand in his place as a course instructor. What an honour! This was not new to Mark as he had conducted classes and seminars for IBPSIA in the past.Mark's other interests, besides bowling, are lighter collecting, stamp collecting and coin collecting. When time allows, he likes to play around with his 1967 Pontiac GTO. Ron Machniak was one of the first Bronze Certified Instructors in the world as he took his course in the fall of 1995 and received his Certification along with Mary Mohacsi from Fred Borden. In addition, Mr. Machniak is one of the few people ever certified by the Deerfield Bowling Academy to perform superior maintenance procedures on bowling balls. Further, in the 21st Century, Mr. Machniak has logged over 250 hours of one-on-one training with Mo Pinel. Seldom has Mr. Pinel worked one on one with any ball drilling technician! Ron has personal highs of 300, 299 and 290. Besides bowling, Ron's other interests include his wife, Elizabeth, son Jonah and trumpet collecting as well as listening to a fine jazz music collection. Joe Dyer runs our bowling clinics called "Learn the Curve." Joe is USBC Bronze Certified. Joe received his Bronze Certificate through Cary Pon at Whitmore Lanes in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. Joe is also Certified through the Dick Ritger Academy at Level One and Level Two. Both Mr. Dyer and Mr. Mohacsi received their Academy Certificates through 20-time PBA title holder, member of the Professional Bowlng Association and the American Bowling Congress Halls of Fame, Dick Ritger himself! Further, Mr. Dyer, at the tender age of 22, recorded his personal bests of 300 and 815. Last year, Joe graduated from Madonna University with a major in Chemistry and a minor in Physics and currently has a full time job with BASF. The Right Approach Pro Shop is located inside of Merri-Bowl Lanes in Livonia, Michigan. Merri-Bowl Lanes is on the North Side of 5 Mile Road, approximately 300 yards East of Merriman.
